Searching for Edward Hopper
I am pleased to announce the publication of my third artist's book, "Searching for Edward Hopper: Photographs by Rodger Kingston." Through a sequence of 174 images dating from 1974 to 2014, it examines Hopper’s impact on my photographs: how, looking at the world through his eyes, I learned to see through my own. I wish I could show it to you in person, but at least you can view it, in its entirety, here (these images, from a low resolution PDF, are not indicative of the high reproduction quality of the actual printed book).
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID:
• "As for the photographs, they are very beautiful and very much in a spirit of Hopper. I can't stop looking at them.” — Charles Simic, US Poet Laureate, 2007
• “There is pure joy here, as if Walt Whitman had picked up a camera.” — Steffen Pierce, Filmmaker
• "I recently came across the brilliant work of American photographer Rodger Kingston. "Searching for Edward Hopper" is as distinctly American as Coltrane's jazz or Whitman's poetry. This book is destined to become a classic. Like others, I can't stop looking at it." — John Gordon, Editor, The Smallest Suitcase Blog, Perth, Australia
This FIRST EDITION is limited to:
•120 hardcover copies, each signed and numbered and accompanied by a signed 8 ½ X 11” archival inkjet print, at a price of $350 (copies 1-27 no longer available).
• 26 hardcover copies lettered A through Z, each signed and accompanied by a signed 17 X 22” archival inkjet print, at a price of $750 (copy A no longer available).
